Capacity Building Workshop for GCA Water Supply Project was Held in Pekanbaru
Directorate of Government Support and Infrastructure Financing Management, in collaboration with Indonesia Infrastructure Guarantee Fund held a capacity building workshop for Government Contracting Agency (GCA) of Water Supply Project (WSP) Pekanbaru on 9 – 10 October 2017. The event was attended by PPP team from PDAM Tirta Siak and City Government of Pekanbaru.
The 2-day event was conducted to improve the capacity and readiness of PDAM Tirta Siak as the GCA about their role in project preparation. During the workshop, participants received explanation from several experts about specific aspects in WSP project, such as the basic water availability (quality and quantity), risk mitigation plan, development of piped water coverage as well as project structures on the WSP Pekanbaru.
PDAM Tirta Siak received support from Ministry of Finance in the form of Project Development Facility which was signed on 18 August 2017. Ministry of Finance has assigned PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) to assist PDAM Tirta Siak in preparation process and transaction / auction.
This event was also attended by the Mayor of Pekanbaru, Mr. H. Firdaus, who stated that water is one of the basic infrastructure that must be provided by the Government. With the construction of basic infrastructure, local government was expected to be able to have the sense of competitiveness and improve the region economy.
Mayor hoped that WSP Pekanbaru project can be a solution in improving drinking water supply service for Pekanbaru community. Furthermore, the Mayor hoped that the success of WSP Pekanbaru will be a benchmark for other Municipal / District Government in Indonesia.
